NAIFA - ASA Merger Approved

Dear NAIFA Members,

On October 21, 2017, the results of the NAIFA designated member vote on the Plan of Merger with the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) was announced to those in attendance at the Annual Membership Meeting in Rosemont, Illinois.  The voting overwhelmingly approved the plan, and the target date of the merger was confirmed as July 1, 2018.  Much work needs to be done by both organizations to complete the process. We are confident that it will be a smooth transition, and NAIFA member benefits and activities will be unaffected during this time.

Although this is a bittersweet decision, the merger is the best way for our NAIFA designations to be protected and for us to continue to be a viable organization within the appraisal profession into the future.  It also offers our members the opportunity to achieve the ASA dual designation.

We have been communicating with you over the past several months, the details and benefits of the merger between ASA and NAIFA. We will continue to be transparent throughout the merger process and welcome your questions and comments. Please look for more information about your membership when you receive your 2018 membership dues invoice in a few weeks.

Thank you to all of you that voted on this important issue.  This is an exciting time for NAIFA members and we look forward to your continued support and membership in the organization.

Best regards,

David Doering, IFA
2017 NAIFA National President
